The AT&T Sports Center is hosting the Denali Orthopedic Surgery Tip-Off Classic Nov. 20-22 at the sports center along the Palmer-Wasilla Highway.
Teams from across the state will compete in the tournament created for high school boys and girls.

Basketball academy invites players
Varsity Academy Basketball is inviting players to train during scheduled sessions on Nov. 22, Nov. 29, Dec. 6 and Dec. 13 from 3-6 p.m. at the AT&T Sports Center.
The cost is $200 for AT&T Sports Center members and $225 for nonmembers.
The clinics, directed by Colony High School assistant basketball coaches Jon Coon and Tom Berg, is a basketball and life skils program developed by NBC Camps. Players who participate will learn the skills of shooting, attack moves, ball handling, passing, fast breaks, rebounding and defense.

Sports center featuring volleyball event
The AT&T Sports Center is hosting the second-annual Like 2 Spike Tournament Jan. 2
There is a $200 team fee, and the deadline for registration is Nov. 31.

Group featuring baton classes
The Alaskaneete Baton and Show Corps is hosting beginner baton twirling classes in Palmer and Wasilla.
The weekly classes, intended for children ages 5-12, are held at the Swanson Elementary gymnasium in Palmer and Iditarod Elementary gymnasium in Wasilla every Monday.

Arena hosting learn to skate
The Brett Memorial Ice Arena is hosting learn to skate classes Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturday mornings, afternoons and evenings. The classes are open to ages 3 1/2 to adults.
All levels including basics, freestyle, ice dancing, power and conditioning. Individual Instruction available and hockey instruction.

Palmer Pool hosting special swim sessions
The Palmer pool has some special swims available:
• Preschool and youth classes beginning Nov. 10 and 11.
• Lifeguard training and water safety instructor classes will be held November and December.
Ski and snowboard at Alyeska
For the 21st consecutive year, the Mat-Su School District is sponsoring a ski/snowboard program at Alyeska Resort in Girdwood. The program is operated through Wasilla Middle School and is open to all students 12 and over. Younger students may participate with supervision. Two schedules of eight trips are planned. The two schedules operate on alternating Saturdays beginning on Jan. 9 (schedule #1) and Jan. 16 (schedule #2). For $375.00, participants receive round-trip bus transportation, lift tickets, and two lessons for eight Saturday outings. For participants requiring rental equipment, there is an additional $100 charge. Information may be picked up at Wasilla Middle School or downloaded at wms.matsuk12.us. Or call 352-5300.
