Knights win John Tobin Invitational

NORTH POLE — The Colony Knights used five individual champions to win the team title of the John Tobin Invitational at North Pole High School on Saturday.

Noah Roetman (103), Sam Loggins (130), Chase Montgomery (140), Eric Fan (215) and Renn Wright (285) finished first in their respective weight classes.

Isaac Wilson (112), Charles Coisman (125), Ryan Knutson (160) and Kenny Boykin (171) also advanced to the finals and finished second.

In all, nine of the final 14 matches featured a Colony grappler.

A trio of Wasilla Warriors also advanced to the finals.

Derek Johnsen (140), Caleb Pempek (152) and Jeremy White (189) placed second for the Warriors, who placed fourth in the team standings.

Moose with four duals

SOLDOTNA — The Palmer Moose finished 4-2 in six duals during the Skyview Invitational at Skyview High School in Soldotna over the weekend.

Palmer earned wins over the South Anchorage junior varsity, Homer, Soldotna and Kenai during the two-day event.

Houston finished 1-5 during the Skyview Invite.
