As a resident of Palmer, and a concerned member of MEA for 17 years, I have watched the behaviors of many MEA board members and staff that I would call unjust, unrepresentative of the community, and at times down right nasty. I have witnessed millions of dollars being wasted on lawsuits, and ideas for change and progress that were thwarted by power and greed of individuals. I have long wished for change in how my own electrical cooperative was run and represented.
Now MEA members are presented with two excellent people, Janet Kincaid and Peter Burchell, who want to truly serve us and our community. I would like to point out that I do not know Janet Kincaid or Peter Burchell personally, and do not offer my support from this basis; rather, for years, I have watched their dedicated service toward creating and supporting a community based on involvement, responsibility to all and caring.

MEA members are also presented with a bylaw that would seat newly elected board members in 15 days rather than the ridiculous and unserving amount of time of four months.
The time for positive change is here and now. And if you care about your community, or how your electricity is generated, recognize that your vote is as powerful as one for your local/statewide political races. MEA has a lot of power and say in what happens in this community, and it is important that it represents you. It’s your cooperative. Vote Burchell, Kincaid, and to change the bylaw.
